"Closer" - By Cecilie Harris & India Hobson

Adam Robertson Photography suggests you check out the new book by Boys by Girls 'Closer'.

Cecilie Harris and India Hobson of Boys by Girls are back with their 2nd photo book, on its 118 pages Closer features profiles of 17 noted models shot in London, Stockholm and Budapest.

With this book we wanted to leave out all the fashion stuff and simply focus on the real beauty of the boys. So we shot them in their own clothes, no hair and make-up (other than what they'd normally do themselves) and in their home environment. Through all these months of shooting it has turned into our favourite way of working, and each and every model provided something unique. – Cecilie Harris
Closer is available to buy in print hard cover and soft cover, front cover features Sebastian Sauve while the back one goes to Pavel Baranov.

Mess around with Anita De Bauch

I was recently lucky enough to get booked by a client to shoot some catalogue photos for their website with a long time friend Anita De Bauch. After we had done the stock/catalogue photos for their site, Jules the client was happy enough for us to use some of their products for a quick mess around shoot. Jules makes handmade leather goods, including the harnesses seen in the shots below.

Here's what we can up with in a speedy 10min shoot.

Later on we also did some funky bright images, again completely unplanned and off the cuff shooting. I threw Anita into the jacket and glasses and told her to roll with it. Sometimes it's so nice to be able to just shoot candid images with friends, as there isn't the demands to succeed in getting X Y and Z.

What's your everyday camera?

As photographers, we're probably aware what's around us most of the time. We look at details, shapes and light, and we often document these things with our everyday cameras; be it a phone, compact digital, a film camera or whatever else we have to hand.

I always have my phone in my pocket so should I need to take a photo I can do so, but I'm often left waiting for the camera to open, and missing the moment due to the phone not being quick enough. This has left me longing for something to bridge the gap between my phone and DSLR's, and after reading numerous blogs I still can't decide what I want.

I recently saw Jay McLaughlin's blog about his Olympus E-PL1 camera and I've seen other photographers blogs about their Canon Powershot G-12 or their Sony Nex-7, or equivalents.

I guess what I'm looking for from those that use them, what made you make your final choice? What requirements did you have, and has it fullfilled those requirements since you got it? Is there anything you wanted it to do that it doesn't and you now know one that fills that requirement? Would you change to that one?

I'd be looking for something that's rather small and light, easy to use menus etc, that has the capability work work in varying scenarios i.e. harsh sunlight and low light etc so I think the Canon Powershot G-12 (or any other from that range) would be suited to what I want.

Feel free to comment underneath and share your everyday camera blogs/photos etc, I'd love to know what you use and how you use them

New sponsors and free stuff

Thought I'd end the year with some good news about tee shirt sponsors for 2012 and other awesome free stuff I'm rocking...

1. New t-shirt sponsorship - from the awesome Sasha over at Smut Clothing - looks like 2012 will be the year of rocking SMUT t-shirts at work. Which I can't complain about, I've been an avid wearer/collector of t-shirts for a long time and have a vast collection of his collection already. So keep your eyes peeled for behind the scenes in 2012 as I'm sure you'll see me rocking his tee's.

2. Awesome Jeans - from the guys at SNAKEANDDAGGER. I met these guys in East London as their show room was in the same building as my studio. They were kind enough to give me some cool jeans to wear on shoots etc. They are quite possibly some of the nicest feeling denim I've ever worn, they're just so damn comfy. Definitely head over to www.snakeanddagger.com and check them out. Hopefully 2012 will see me wearing some more of their stuff.

I was going to blog about camera bags, but I'll save that for another time, as I'm sure like most photographers searching for the best/most practical/comfy camera bags is an ongoing thing .

I am however on the lookout for some good single strap shoulder bags, for the Creative Wedding Duo to use at weddings, so if anyone out there wants to send me some, get in touch on adam@adamrobertson.co.uk
